Hemsö takes possession of Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in Pori

- Non-regulatory information

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, which was under construction when Hemsö acquired it from Citycon in June 2015, has now been completed and Hemsö will take possession of the property on schedule on 31 May.

The property comprises 23,000 sqm of lettable area and the purchase price amounts to EUR 57 million. The tenant is Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK), which has signed a 20-year lease that has been underwritten by the City of Pori.

“Educational properties is a priority area for Hemsö and the university in Pori is an important local investment. The new, ultra-modern premises have environmental certification and are customised for the operations. The building has also been designed so that the university can use it as a ‘living laboratory’ for research. For example, the heating, ventilation and sanitary installations can be used for educational purposes,” says Jarkko Leinonen, Head Region Finland.

Together with Citycon, Hemsö has raised the level of environmental certification from BREEAM Good to BREEAM Very Good and the property qualifies to meet the requirements of Hemsö’s sustainable bonds framework.

Following this acquisition, Hemsö owns properties in Finland valued at approximately SEK 2.4 billion.
