Framework and guidelines
Hemsö’s sustainability initiatives are embedded in the company’s operations and governed by both external frameworks and internal policies and guidelines.
The United Nations summit in September 2015 adopted 17 Global Goals to lead the world towards a sustainable and fair future by 2030. Hemsö has mapped the goals against our operations and sustainability initiatives to align our activities with the relevant goals.
We also use other frameworks, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), to secure the relevance of our sustainability initiatives and to support transparent and relevant sustainability communication.
The basis for our sustainability initiatives
Our majority owner, the Third Swedish National Pension Fund, places high demands on sustainability, which also regulates Hemsö. Sustainability is embedded in our business concept, and we integrate economic, environmental and social sustainability into our long-term decision-making process on a daily basis. Internally, Hemsö’s sustainability initiatives are based on relevant parts of the owner’s directive and on governing documents, such as our sustainability policy and guidelines. Sustainability is included in the company’s annual strategy planning process. In many cases, sustainability issues are incorporated into the company’s other guidelines and processes.
