Hemsö acquires hospital in Finland

- Non-regulatory information

Hemsö has acquired the Kymenlaakso Psychiatric Hospital in Kouvola, Finland, from Kymsote (joint municipal authority for Kymenlaakso social and health services). Kymsote will continue to run the hospital and has signed a 20-year lease agreement. The investment amount is EUR 13.7 million.

The hospital has an area of 8,800 sqm and was completed in 2006. It has five adult wards, one children’s outpatient clinic, one children and young people’s ward and one unit for functional rehabilitation.

“We’ve been interested in the Kouvola area, where the hospital is located, for a long time. Our investments have a long-term horizon. Long-term rental agreements and active dialogue with our tenants are the cornerstones of our operations,” says Jarkko Leinonen, Head of Region, Finland at Hemsö.

Hemsö already owns about 185,000 sqm of hospital and health care properties in Finland, including hospitals in Turku and Oulu.
